For years, I thought I had my health pretty dialed in. I was doing all the “right” things—eating well, exercising, meditating, prioritizing sleep. And yet… some days, my body felt fine, and other days, it was like everything I was doing made no difference at all.
I’d hear that from clients too:
“I’m doing everything right, but nothing’s changing.” Or: “Some days, my body cooperates. Other days, it’s like it’s working against me.” If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
And the truth? It’s not about what you’re doing. It’s about how you’re seeing your body.
Dysregulation Isn’t Just a Stress Response—It’s a Pattern
When most people hear “dysregulation,” they think of stress. Overwhelm. Fight-or-flight moments. But what if dysregulation isn’t just something that happens occasionally—it’s actually the operating system your body is running on most of the time?
Your nervous system controls how you experience everything:
• Your energy levels
• Your symptoms
• Your healing capacity
• Your response to supplements, sleep, exercise—even connection
If your nervous system is stuck in survival mode (even subtly), your body isn’t set up to receive the benefits of all the great things you’re doing. It’s just trying to get through the day.
And that’s why healing can feel inconsistent, unpredictable, and endlessly frustrating.
How It Shows Up
• You wake up tired even after a full night’s sleep.
• You do something that felt great yesterday… and crash the next day.
• You’ve tried all the right things—but they only work sometimes.
• You’re gaining weight, even though nothing has changed.
• You find yourself zoning out, scrolling, numbing—more than usual.
Sound familiar?
This isn’t random. This is a system that’s been stuck in dysregulation—maybe for years.
Most Advice Focuses on the Wrong Thing
Most of what’s out there says:
• Try this breathwork technique.
• Do a cold plunge.
• Use this vagus nerve hack.
• Meditate more.
And all of that can help. But it’s not the starting point. If your body is already in a dysregulated state, adding more tools won’t fix the problem. You need to change the lens you’re looking through.
Your Nervous System Is the Platform Everything Runs On
It’s not just about isolated symptoms or health problems—it’s about the state your body is operating from all the time. And when you start observing your nervous system as the common thread—everything starts to make more sense.
• Why some days you feel fine and other days you crash.
• Why your symptoms flare up “out of nowhere.”
• Why you’re doing all the right things, but nothing is landing.
Once you start asking “What’s my system running on today?”—instead of “What’s wrong with me?”—you gain the power to make different choices. You stop chasing solutions. You start working with your body instead of against it.
